Almost a whole month — from January 21 to February 22 — Malta hosts carnivals, the celebration of which dates back to ancient times. Special significance was attached to this holiday since the arrival of the Knights of St. John on the island. Over the centuries, this holiday has become one of the most vibrant and attractive traditions of Malta, where ancient customs intertwine with modern creativity.
The streets of cities are filled with music of orchestras consisting of local residents, grotesque masks, costumes, and colourful platforms. All this creates a unique atmosphere of festive mood.
Our students really enjoy visiting carnival processions, and it has become an integral part of Malta Crown school events.
What attracts the children? Probably everything together: the opportunity to see real folk rejoicing, to feel the spirit of Malta, and to admire how Maltese people preserve their traditions and carefully pass them on to the next generations.
